All over social media people are talking about Back To School. There is shopping, sales, giveaways and tips every where you turn. Back to school is an expensive time. I know that people spend hundreds of dollars on each child for school supplies each year.
This year I was able to be a part of something amazing. A "Pay It Forward" Back Pack challenge. The goal is to buy a back pack and fill it with supplies for $25. Not an easy task! Then I am privileged to give the supplies to a child.
I am in Canada, and we have different stores here, and higher prices. It is amazing to me the differences in prices here. I searched for a back pack that was reasonably priced that was not going to fall apart, and could not find one! I was finally able to find a licensed one on sale!
I could have gone to the dollar store for some supplies, but was not about to fill a child's school supplies with things that need replacing 2 days later. Oh, the days wasted because of dollar store supplies in my house!
Here is what I was able to accomplish:
Before tax: $22.82
After tax: $25.77
I am so thrilled to be a part of this event. These days, we are an untrusting, unloving, and a cold society. Everyone looks out for them selves, and no one notices the needs around us. Happiness comes from giving. Being able to pay it forward is a gift in it self. I feel as lucky to be able to do this as the people receiving this blessing.

I love the #PayItForward events. Being able to help someone else makes you feel so good! Great job with the deals!
pay it forward is great for both ends - the recipient gains something they need and the giver gains something intangible that they probably didnt even know they needed - the feeling of charity.
I love pay it forward. I agree with you , this world has become what I call "cut throat". I was not raised like that, and I refuse to be turned to that side, with that being said I think it makes my work environment harder, and I get the short end of the stake, but I WILL NOT do someone wrong for my own personal gain.
Good challenge. Back to school is commercialized way too much .
Sounds like a reasonable program
Sounds like a great program. I always buy extra school supplies and donate the extras to the school for those who need school supplies.
Back To School jazz everywhere.. weird I'm in college haha
This is such a great opportunity. I'm sure there are similar things in my area. I'm going to look into this & encourage others to do the same.
Wow great finds! I never heard of an event like that, but I'm intrigued!
You are right very often others turn the other way rather than help others. Way to go for paying it forward and helping a child.
