My Diaper Addiction Review and Giveaway Ends August 9th! ~Closed~

Who loves fluff? I do! And I am addicted to it.  So I am very happy to pass along one of my findings to my readers.

When I first decided to cloth diaper my baby (before she was born) I was looking at all the different diapers and all the different styles, colors, prices, and everything else that comes along with that.  I had cloth diapered my oldest (who is almost 11!) but at that time I knew about nothing more than prefolds and covers.  But I did know one diaper I just HAD to have was one with Tinkerbell on it.  And I sure found one.

I did a Google search for Tinkerbell diaper.  And it lead me to an Etsy shop.  In this Etsy shop was one of the cutest newborn cloth diaper I had seen.  The only catch....it was a fitted.  I knew then that I would have to use a cover and was really sad.  But I bought it anyways.  I mean how could I pass it up for under $10??  It was a second but I had no idea what that meant.  Apparently it had rolling elastic somewhere.  If it worked I did not care.  It was called a FattyCakes diaper.  Again I had no idea what that meant.

So I got the diaper in the mail (a couple weeks later cause it came from Canada) and I was looking it up and down.  I thought it was SO cute.  I ran into my room and grabbed a Cabbage Patch doll JUST so I could see what it looked like.  I also wanted to figure out how to use it cause it was a snap diaper.  I have never used one of those before.  My Cabbage Patch doll looked so cute.

Finally, the day came when my baby girl came into this world and I was thrilled I would get to see this cute little diaper on her little bum.  She was 2 weeks old when I finally decided to put it on her.  Why did I wait so long? Well I wanted to make sure all that nasty black poo was gone and was not gonna stain my precious diaper.  So I finally put it on..and OH GOSH so cute!!  I thought it was so cute that I made sure that she had her newborn pictures done in THAT diaper.

Well weeks went by.  My little girl was growing more and more.  I knew that diaper would not last forever so I went back to the Etsy shop and it was empty.  Oh boy was I sad.  I then started searching HIGH AND LOW for this lady and for more diapers.  I finally ran across her on Facebook.  Not sure how I ended up there but I did.  I told her I had ordered the Tinkerbell diaper from Etsy and was looking for more...and yes more Tinkerbell.  So she sent me a few pics of more Tinkerbell fabric she had.  I quickly ordered up another diaper.

This time I was sent a black FattyCakes Tinkerbell diaper size small.  I quickly washed it and got it ready and put on my little girl.  Well it was a tad big.  See the newborn diaper still fit her...even at 12 lbs!  But I waited patiently to put her in the small.  I mean really did I want her to grow up that fast.  However, by the time she was 13 lbs the rise was to low so I had to go to the small.  And yay did it fit her well.

So I went back and asked about more diapers.  She sent me over to her Hyena Cart store called My Diaper Addiction.  I giggled.  I mean seriously..MY DIAPER ADDICTION?? Perfect name!! I looked around her store and found a medium Tinkerbell diaper.  I quickly snatched it up.  I mean she is JUST now able to wear it but I HAD to have it then.

I became a quick FAN of My Diaper Addiction.  Then one day she announces she was working on a new diaper.  I quickly put my hands up and said OH I WILL TEST!!  And you know what, that was one of my best decisions.  She was testing a diaper for a skinny minny baby!  And I sure had one of those. So for 3 weeks I waited for this tester diaper...and of course it was TINKERBELL!!

Well in between the time she made my diaper and the time I got the diaper in my little girl decided to get a little "meaty".  I had ordered a small diaper.  I was in fear that this diaper would not work or fit.  But guess what?? It did!!  It fit so well.  It was like a glove :)  I mean it had great rise, didn't bulk up all over the place, and held everything in..for AWHILE!!  The first time I used it I have to admit that I did not even prep it.  I was just to darn excited.  And I was amazed that it took FOREVER to notice it was wet.  I mean I kept touching it and it was never wet.

I gave my high praises to the owner and maker of this diaper...which is named Skinny Butt!  I quickly asked when I could get another one.  She did a restocking shortly after that and I ordered 2 more.  I ordered a medium size and a large size.  I mean I did not have intentions on the large one but there was a print that I just HAD to have.  And guess what....neither diaper was TINKERBELL.  The medium was Todoki and the large was an Asian print.

Well I am so ADDICTED that I just bought another one...and this one IS Tinkerbell.  And I can not wait to get it.

SO here is my opinion.  While the FattyCakes diapers I have are great and all I prefer the Skinny Butts 100% over them.  I like the way they look on my little girl.  I think the absorbency is so much better.  I like the positioning of the diaper and the fact that it is not as bulky but does a better job.  SO I highly recommend all you mamas to go out and buy one...I promise you will love it!

Would you like to try one of the BEST fitted diapers out there?  Well here is your chance!

Clean B Detergent Review and Giveaway Ends August 7th!! ~Closed~

Ok so time for another detergent review.  This time it is Clean B.  Now how could this review be any different from the other ones I have done.  Well it can!!

So let me start by saying that Melissa is one of the kindest and greatest women I have met.  And her customer service is totally great!  Now with that being said...let me take you on my journey.  So once we had talked and decided I would do this review, she sent me out some samples.  The only problem is they never made it to me :(  I was so sad.  I talked to her and let her know I never received them.  She graciously sent out another set.

Now let me fast forward to the day the mailman came to visit me bringing me my packages.  He and I are on a first name basis (I mean seriously he brings me 2-3 packages a day).  He comes up to me and goes "Carol, what in the world is in this package?" SO I looked and saw where it was coming from.  It was from Clean B.  I looked at him and said "Well...it is my detergent that I am trying out."  He just looked at me strangely.  I then went through the process of explaining to him about the difference in this detergent and store bought.  Fast forward to the end of the conversation... he looks at me and says "Order more please. It makes my truck smell great!"  So that was a great start!

Now funny that he said that because when I got the package it did have a faint smell to it, but the packages of detergent were sealed very nice.  The nice little resealable packaging!!  The packaging is simple yet nice.  I quickly tore into the detergents to smell.  Melissa sent me Cherry Almond and Fruit Slices.  I was in heaven!  I quickly ran down to the laundry and started washing!

I ran 4 loads through the Fruit Slices first.  I wanted to run them through dirty cloth diapers, dirty clothes, clean cloth diapers, and clean clothes.  I wanted to see if there was a real difference.  I read the directions and grabbed the scoop that came with the detergent.  I used the maximum amount of 2 scoops to make sure I got the full effect.  So starting with the dirty cloth diapers I stood at my washing machine watching the whole process.  Let me tell you that was the most disgusting water I have ever seen.  Then onto the dirty clothes.  It was yucky but no where near as yucky as the dirty diapers.  Yea, yea I know what you are thinking.  They are dirty of course it is going to look yucky!  Now onto clean diapers.  The water was dirty.  I mean um what happened? They are clean????  Same thing with my clean clothes.  Ok great...here I thought my clothes were clean.

Now to the best part.  They smelled AFTER they were washed!! I mean that heavenliness smell you only get when you put in the scoop with most detergents....it was still there!!!  Really?? How can this be?  Ok so as I take out the clothes and put them into the dryer I am amazed how much they smell like the detergent. Just made me want to eat a load of clothes, HA!

Then to the dryer.  So I just did a review of wool dryer balls.  What I did not tell you is during my review I switched detergents while reviewing them.  The reason being is Clean B. has a little something in it to help with the whole static cling issue.  And let me tell you I NOTICED a difference.  There was a lot less static in the clothes with Clean B. than the other detergent.

So enough talk about static.  I want to get to the second best part.  When I pulled my fresh and dried clothes from the dryer....they STILL had a smell of the detergent.  You want to know how great it is to put on clothes with a slight YUMMY smell to them and know there is NO CHEMICALS!!

I am completely and totally amazed with this product and this woman!  I made me a order for 10 bags!!  I want 10 scents I have not tried..I mean you should see all the scents she has!

Now in case you think I never tried my Cherry Almond I did.  I think I have washed everything in my home in Clean B.  It smells so amazing.  And everything came out just the way I described each and every time!

Two Little Monkies Review and Giveaway Ends August 6th! ~Closed~

So let me start off by saying I am totally addicted to bows, clips, headbands, and virtually anything that can go in a little girl's hair.

When I decided to do these reviews I asked my readers to tell me about their favorite stores and what they loved about them.  One of my readers directed me to Two Little Monkies.  I went over to her Etsy shop and completely fell in love.

I was sent two sets of bows to try out, one for my youngest daughter and one for my oldest daughter.  Let me tell you they were completely different from each other.  The maker decided to send me one set for very fine/to virtually no hair (lol!) and one for normal hair (ha!).  They were absolutely adorable and very well put together.

Well let me start with the baby's hair clips.  I received 3.  When I got them out I have to say I was a little worried.  It was the kind of clip that you have to push down to get it to stay.  I mean my baby squirms and has a really soft head still and I was very worried about using these.  BUT I DID!  And I LOVED it.  They looked a little awkward at first, but that is because of the layout of her hair haha!  They stayed in place and they were not that difficult to get in after all.  I timed how long they stayed in before they fell out.  The first time I put them in they were in a total of 2.5 hours.  The second time was less...baby realized they were there.  In the mist of her noticing they were there we lost 1.  I think that was the only down side to them...they were so small they were easy to lose.  So we only have 2 out of the 3.

Would I buy more?  YES!! More because I tried them in my hair and my oldest's hair and they worked REALLY well for putting those few strands of hair back from in front of the face.  I even stacked them and they looked really cute.  I had actually forgot I put them in and went out in public and everyone commented on how cute it looked (LOL!)

Now onto the big girl hair bow.  It was an alligator clip.  It fit really well onto my oldest's hair, my hair, and even onto a headband for the baby!  There was no issues with this one.

Would I buy more? YES!  I thought it was absolutely adorable, well constructed, and my oldest loved it!  It also helps when they request more!

Would you like to try some? Here is your chance! There will be 2 winners.  Yes, I said 2!!!

1 reader will win a $10 GC to the store.
1 reader will win a $5 GC to the store.

Talk about aggravation

ave you ever typed something up and was just about done and then......bam! you lost everything? Well that happened to me tonight. I decided instead of using blogger to write up my review I would do it in Word and get it just the way I wanted and then copy and paste. Boy, was that a bad idea. I was just about done, just adding some few minor touch ups and...poof! It was gone. I don't mean my power went out...I mean my computer completely shut off. I have a laptop so I never worry about the power...but it just stopped and died! I finally got it up and running and figured..well Word tends to save my documents no biggie. WRONG! Nothing...nowhere. So my 2 page review (that's how it came across Word) is gone up in smoke. So now I have to write it again.

Good news is you get a double whammy tomorrow with 2 different reviews...and even a giveaway! Bad news is..I have to write it all over again and then another one. Why me? lol. So in the mean time read over previous posts...find contests to win...head over to the Facebook page and join...or just stare at your computer till tomorrow.

Wool Dryer Balls Comparison Review and Giveaway Ends July 28th! ~Closed~

Let me start with one question....do you like having chemicals on your clothes?  I sure do not.  Which was one reason I wanted to find something that would get my clothes lint free and static cling free.  I tried those plastic things once and well I did not like the smell it left let alone the fact of plastic in the dryer was REALLY loud.  After doing some searching I found that wool dryer balls do a really good job at doing that and had NO CHEMICALS.  However I had no idea there were so many different types or wool dryer balls out there and so many different people and companies who make them.  So I went out and bought several different wool dryer balls.  I purchased all UNSCENTED dryer balls to make sure that I was able to review the product itself and nothing else.

The first wool dryer ball I purchased was from Funhog Felts.  They came in a set of two and was purchased off of eBay.  This was the first purchase of wool dryer balls and had I decided to go on initial purchase I probably would have never bought another wool dryer ball.  When they arrived I honestly did not think there was anything in the package.  It was very light.  Once I opened them, I found I was right...they were almost nonexistent.  They were very wound together.  I decided to give it a go and put them in a load of clothes.  I was amazed they actually seemed to work.  The drying time was only cut by about 5 minutes, but I had no lint and little static.  I was not totally thrilled but what can you expect.  I really do not see how they had the weight to bounce around they seemed so light.

I give Funhog Felts 3/5 stars.  I was not thrilled about the lightweight wool dryer balls.  I feel that in order to do a great job there needs to be some weight.  They did reduce my drying time, lint, and static but they are just too lightweight for my taste.

The next wool dryer ball I purchased was Buddha Bunz.  I purchased the June "Color of the Month" which at that time was PURPLE.  I purchased two of these to start.  I waited patiently for about 2 weeks to receive my wool dryer balls.  The balls are made upon order which is why it takes a little longer to get.  When I got them in the mail I noticed the package was pretty heavy.  I actually wondered if I got the correct order.  I opened them up to find two beautiful and soft dryer balls.  They were very full and compacted.  You could not really see where the wool was wound together.  I placed those in my dryer with the next load of clothes.  (Now note the recommended wool dryer ball amount is 4-6 wool dryer balls) I noticed my drying time was cut by about 12 minutes less than what it normally took to dry my clothes.  When I pulled out the clothes (washed all towels) there was very little lint and just a bit of static.  But remember 4-6 is recommended.  I went on to drying a few more loads and they all came out with very little lint and very little static and absolutely NO CHEMICALS were used!
From the Buddha Bunz website:

Our dryer balls are the all natural alternative to plastic PVC dryer balls. Made with 100% wool they gently bounce in your dryer to keep your laundry soft while reducing the amount of time it takes to dry... saving you time and money and reducing your footprint on Mother Earth.

More information!

~Approx. 9" in circumfrence

~Approx. 3oz each

~100% wool to the core

~Handmade in the USA!

~Using 4 dryer balls on a 90 minute cycle will cut a small load of laundry in 1/2 and a large load by 1/4!

~Saving you approx $.26 on a large load and $.51 on a small load of laundry!

~Sold individually
In the end, I would have to say I give Buddha Bunz 5/5 stars.  Now there was one slight downside.  My dog decided to chew on one and I ran them through the wash because of it.  They are not all bright and purple anymore, more of a faded purple.  I do not point fault to the maker but to the purchaser (me!).  But they still work just as well and I have found that washing them does not cause them to come apart...which is a GREAT thing!!

The third wool dryer balls I purchased were from GardenofHolly.  I ordered two  100% pure virgin wool yarn as well and even received a cute little satchel with them.  When they came in the mail they were a bit lighter than the previous purchase.  I received the wool dryer balls within a few days of ordering them.  They were premade and there were no color choices.  They were very soft but about appeared to be about half the size of the wool dryer balls I already had, however they were not.  They were wound tightly together.  I put them in a small load (due to recommended load amount on the website).  The clothes came out lint free and had very little static.  I placed a normal size load in with the wool dryer balls and had slightly more lint and also more static.  I noticed there was about a 7 minute difference in drying time on the small load and about 9 minutes on the normal load.  I dried a few more loads and then decided I would wash the wool dryer balls to see how they handled being wash.  There was absolutely no problems.  They held up just fine and there was no unraveling.
From the GardenofHolly website:

****Color selection can and will vary according to stock****

Our dryer balls are made with 100% pure virgin wool yarn still containing its natural oils. Dryer balls work to absorb water (to help cut down on drying time) and reduce static. They also help to 'soften' your fabrics by bouncing around inside the dryer fluffing your laundry.

***You need a minimum of two balls per load to get started, however the more you use the less drying time needed. If you are dying a lot of synthetic fabrics you may need 3 or 4 to eliminate static. Up to 6 balls are recommended for a large load.

Less drying time = time, energy and money saved!***

****Small load = 2 to 3 dryer balls
****Medium load = 3 to 5 dryer balls
****Large load = 6 to 8 dryer balls

Each ball measures approximately 7” in circumference. They are already felted so you don't have to worry about strings...the wool may pill over time...which is natural but can be shaved off if it so pleases you. The pills actually help make the balls work better.

In the end I give GardenofHolly 5/5 stars.  Even though the wool dryer balls were smaller than the ones I previously had they held up and did their job just as they should.

The last wool dryer balls I purchased were from Fuzzy Wuzzy Dryer Balls.  I purchased three 100% merino wool dryer balls.  When they came in the mail they were a little heavier than the previous, but they should since there was three.  They did not look like the ones I had previous purchased.  They kind of looked just like a ball of yarn that had been wound.  However, this is more about usefulness than looks, right?  So like before I popped them in a normal load of clothes.  When the clothes came out there was a little static and a little lint.  I would have thought with three balls I would have less.  So I decided to run a few more loads.  It did get better over time and there were less and less of the lint and of the static.  I decided to continue with the washing of the wool dryer balls.  They came through the wash alright, but when they went into the dryer they began to unravel.  That kind of disappointed me.  However, I can't put blame on the maker as they ARE dryer balls not washer balls.  So I found instructions on how to make wool dryer balls and followed the last few steps to fix my unraveling issue.  They are as good as new.
From Fuzzy Wuzzy website:

Dryer balls replace the need for dryer sheets so you can have help with static without chemicals and animal by-products. Healthy for you, your family and mother nature. Dryer balls also reduce your drying time to help lower your energy consumption. Dryer Balls are made from 100% merino wool and handmade by me. Dryer balls go through a felting process and are washed in a eco-friendly laundry detergent.
I gave this wool dryer ball a 5/5.  Even though it began to unravel, I don't feel it was the makers fault.  I do think it could be felted more...but again personal preference!

After I tested each wool dryer ball I decided to add a little Lime EO (5 drops) to the dryer balls to see how well they held the scent.  All of the dryer balls still smelled very yummy after the load was complete.  Funhog Felts wool dryer balls took 4 loads to stop smelling yummy.  Buddha Bunz wool dryer balls took 5 loads to stop smelling yummy.  GardenofHolly took 4 loads.  Fuzzy Wuzzy took about 4 loads as well.

I went back and washed the wool dryer balls that I got from Funhog Felts and they withstood the washing machine.  I imagined it would but still had to do the test on them.

Now I put all the wool dryer balls in at once and my clothes come out NO lint and NO static.  But then again there are about 9 balls bouncing around in there.  Out of all the wool dryer balls I would have to say I will be more inclined to buy from Buddha Bunz or GardenofHolly.  I just liked the wool type better.  I am not a huge fan of the merino wool that Fuzzy Wuzzy uses.  But again to each their own :)

Now to the fun part!!!

Would you like to try some? Here is your chance! There will be 3 winners.  Yes, I said 3!!!
