Silly Saturday How kids see grandparents

How kids see grandparents... After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?" A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!" My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike " I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike '' "You're both old," he replied. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. "What's it about " he asked.  "I don't know," she replied. "I can't read."  I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these colors yourself!" When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights." When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised "Mine says I'm 4 to 6." A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what We learned how to make babies today." The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting." she said. "How do you make babies "  "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'." Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means " she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child." A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. "They use him to keep crowds back," said one child. "No," said another. "He's just for good luck." A third child brought the argument to a close. "They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants." A Grandmother was surprised by her 7 year old grandson one morning when he had made her coffee. She drank what was the worst cup of coffee in her life. When she got to the bottom there were three of those little green army men in the cup. She said, "Honey, what are the army men doing in my coffee?" Her grandson said, "Grandma, it says on TV-'The best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup!'"

The Basics

Tracking

Slim Kicker allows you to track your foods and exercises.  While there are many programs that offer this, Slim Kicker turns it into a game by giving you the chance to earn points.

As you track, you are offered "Friendly Reminders" to help you make healthy choices.

Points

You earn points for everything you do, from tracking your diet and exercises, to Challenges. As you gain points, you "Level Up" Healthy choices earn you more points. When you reach a certain level of points, you get to be invited to special Giveaway Challenges 

Challenges

There are 4 categories of challenges.

• Willpower
• Emotional
• Nutrition
• Fitness

There are also user created and the giveaway challenges, or you can create your own. 

When you begin a challenge you can daily do a "Check In" this gives you points, encouragement, and accountability.

Giveaway Challenges giveaway something for free (ie. fitness gadgets) to 1 lucky person who completed that challenge. Who doesn't like a chance to win free stuff? 

Rewards

When you get started you choose a reward for your self, and at what level you get to claim your reward.There are examples available such as a cheat meal, or you can create your own. I started out by giving my self a reward when I reached level 2. Tonight I get to claim that reward!

Things I would like to see added

I would like to see a scanner on the app. I have used apps that offer this and it makes it easier to track your foods on the go. 

There is no way to manually add exercises. While there is an extensive list available, I use an exercise program on my Wii, and could not add my calories burned.

Silly Saturday: Retired and Bored Husband

  I got this in an email a while ago, and had to share it. Enjoy :)

RETIRED & BORED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse. 
Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

Dear Mrs. Harris, 
Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behaviour and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr.
Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras: 
1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking. 
2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 
3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 
4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, "Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away". This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that
in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money. 
5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway 
6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 
7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged. 
8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, Why can't you people just leave me alone?" EMTs were called.
9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 
10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.
11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme. 
12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels on his chest. 
13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, he yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 
14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed "OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!"
15. Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and asked where the fitting room was?
And last, but not least: 
16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, "Hey! There's no toilet paper in here."
One of the clerks passed out.
