Slim Kicker Review

After 5 kids and a thyroid condition, I admit I have weight I would like to loose. So when I was contacted about a new diet and fitness app, I was excited to check it out.

About SlimKicker

Turn your weight loss and fitness goals into a level-up game

Gamification of weight loss
SlimKicker was formed to solve a huge problem when it comes to losing weight, or living healthier: sustaining motivation. Many people makes resolutions to stop eating junk, or start going to the gym every New Year. But once March or April hits, we forget about our goals, and return back to our old ways.
That's why we created SlimKicker, a level-up game and point-based program. You start by tracking your diet, where whole foods are worth more points than processed foods. It's similar to Weight Watchers, but in reverse.
I love this concept. I am guilty of starting right, and then giving up. It's easy to set goals, but sometimes those goal seem so far away we get discouraged. By turning healthy living into a game, it gives you realistic short term goals and rewards for meeting those goals.

The Basics
Tracking
Slim Kicker allows you to track your foods and exercises.  While there are many programs that offer this, Slim Kicker turns it into a game by giving you the chance to earn points.
As you track, you are offered "Friendly Reminders" to help you make healthy choices.

Points
You earn points for everything you do, from tracking your diet and exercises, to Challenges. As you gain points, you "Level Up" Healthy choices earn you more points. When you reach a certain level of points, you get to be invited to special Giveaway Challenges
Challenges

There are 4 categories of challenges.
  • Willpower
  • Emotional
  • Nutrition
  • Fitness
There are also user created and the giveaway challenges, or you can create your own.
When you begin a challenge you can daily do a "Check In" this gives you points, encouragement, and accountability.
Giveaway Challenges giveaway something for free (ie. fitness gadgets) to 1 lucky person who completed that challenge. Who doesn't like a chance to win free stuff?

Rewards
When you get started you choose a reward for your self, and at what level you get to claim your reward. There are examples available such as a cheat meal, or you can create your own. I started out by giving my self a reward when I reached level 2. Tonight I get to claim that reward!

Blog
The Slim Kicker Blog is filled with healthy recipes to try, as well as a source of information to help you along your journey to a healthy lifestyle.
Why You Will Love It
  • Slim Kicker encourages you to meet your goals by giving you points which earn you custom rewards
  • Plenty of support groups to help you stay motivated
  • Healthy Challenges (including giveaway challenges)
  • User friendly
  • Available online and for your smartphone so you can keep tracking on the go
  • Adding friends gives you extra encouragement and friendly competition

Things I would like to see added
I would like to see a scanner on the app. I have used apps that offer this and it makes it easier to track your foods on the go.

There is no way to manually add exercises. While there is an extensive list available, I use an exercise program on my Wii, and could not add my calories burned.

Overall Impression
I am looking forward to continue using this program to help me reach my goals. Give it a try!
Add me as a friend so we can encourage each other along the way! My user name is chelsealdk.
