Doospy Cloth Diaper Inserts Review & Giveaway

Doopsy® Diapers... Affordability meets Quality!

I am a cloth diaper addict. I admit, I get super excited to test out cloth diapering products.
One important factor when you get into cloth diapering is the inserts. A diaper is only as good as it's insert, right?
 I was sent :
1 Doopsy Heavy Duty Bamboo Terry Insert - 3 Layers
1 Doopsy Heavy Duty Bamboo, Hemp & Organic Cotton Insert - 4 Layers
1 Doopsy Heavy Duty Bamboo Fleece Insert - 4 Layers
1 Doopsy Bamboo Terry Pocket Insert with PUL and 1 Microfiber Insert that fits in the pocket

I was most looking forward to trying the Bamboo Terry Pocket Insert. This is a really great idea. The insert is a pocket with a layer of PUL that gives you extra protection against leaks.
This is especially good for over nights. I tested this out with my 3 year old. He is day time trained, but still needs a diaper for nights. I stuffed the insert into a large AMP Duo, and waited for morning. You can see below how well the Pocket Insert fills out the large AMP.
Morning came with dry sheets and a soaking wet insert. No dampness on his PJ's, always a good sign. Next I tried the Hemp Bamboo combo overnight in a Flip cover. Once again, dry sheets, dry PJ's. We did have one leak. I used the 3 layer bamboo insert in a small AMP Duo for a nap. The 3 layer works ok for day time, but it will not be in my regular rotation. The bamboo inserts are a bit on the small side, which might account for the leak. Here you can see it on top of a medium insert, and it is noticeably smaller.

I decided to see how the inserts absorb, using the same method I use for my So Many Insert Choices post. I immersed each insert in warm water for 60 seconds, and measured how much water was absorbed by each insert.

Doopsy Heavy Duty Bamboo Terry Insert - 3 Layers- 9 ounces
Doopsy Heavy Duty Bamboo, Hemp & Organic Cotton Insert - 12 ounces
Doopsy Heavy Duty Bamboo Fleece Insert - 4 Layers- 10 ounces
Doopsy Bamboo Terry Pocket Insert with PUL and 1 Microfiber Insert - 19 ounces

All I can say is WOW! The Pocket insert have absorbed more water in 1 minute than any other insert I have tested. A must for night time diapering!

I have been very impressed with the Doopsy inserts. One hurdle to cloth diapering for some people is the price. Doopsy provides quality diapers and an affordable price, and offers options to customize your diaper for your needs. Doopsy diapers start at $15.95 and go up to $17.95 depending on the type of the second insert that comes with the diaper. No matter what style you buy, there is one 4 layers microfiber insert that comes with it.

Buy it:

I don't know about great but it is funny. My ds uses cloth diapers on our grandson when he is visiting @ our house. Well i had showed him how to use a flushable liner so he coud just dump the liner if it was dirty. One time, our grandson dirtied his diaper almost as soon as ds had put it on. Ds took the diaper, threw the liner & mess in the toilet, then proceeded to put the same diaper back on! LOL I asked him why he didn't put on a clean one. He said it was clean- there was no mess that leaked off the liner and it wasn't wet. I tried so hard not to laugh! MEN!

i don't know if this is great or not, but my hubby can not tell if my son has pooped in his diaper. They don't give off a smell like disposables do. So every time he goes to check, he sniffs the fluffy butt and then practically sticks his hand down the diaper. A few times, well, you know what has happened. Yuck!

I really like the inserts. They seem like they would be great for a night time diaper because of how thick they look.

I like the inserts are bamboo/hemp. I think they smell less than microfiber.

I like that they offer so many different inserts.

When I first started cloth diapering, I sent my youngest to mother's day out in cloth. When I picked her up I noticed her bag felt really light. I looked inside and didn't see any of her diapers. They had thrown them away with the disposables!! And what she was wearing was on backwards. LOL!
I had to give the ladies better instructions for next time. :)

I guess the funniest so far would be when I was changing my youngest and I had to put him in a sposie because I was stripping his diapers, my oldest ran up and said no mommy those are the bad diapers :)

Well our little one is still very young but one story I could tell was how shocked my mom was when I told her we were going to use cloth diapers. She said she'd tried them when I was a baby and gave up within a few weeks. She said it was a lot of work and not worth it... Then after baby was born, she came over for 2 weeks and after a few days she admitted that cloth diapering was easy and she enjoyed choosing between all the cute prints/colors :)

I like the Expandable Insert!

When my DD was around 6 months old, she went through a phase where she absolutely hated having her diaper changed. My husband used to balance a (clean!) diaper on his head to keep her amused while he changed her. I wish I had taken a photo of it!

When I first started using cloth diapers, I bought a bunch of different types of diapers. One day, I forgot to snap in the insert and put it on my daughter. Well, to say the least, she peed through it.

I love bamboo inserts.

We have two orange diapers. One is a sunbaby and the other is a duo fab fitted. My fiancee put the fitted on the baby and put her down for a nap. She woke up in a puddle, very upset. Apparently, he thought it was the pocket. Smh.
Needless to say, we dont buy fitteds that are the same color as our pockets anymore.
