The Most Stolen Cars of 2012

This post brought to you by Insurance Hunter. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you own a car, then you need auto insurance, right? We all hope that we don't need to use it, but it's there just in case. No one plans on making a claim. No one deliberately puts their vehicle in a situation to be stolen, right? Well, we can always be a little more careful. There is always one time we forget........

The Insurance Bureau of Canada has released a list of the most stolen cars of 2012, and I was surprised by some of the cars on there. Many of the vehicles are the same model, just different years. I always assumed it would be the small little cars stolen. Or the really high end ones.I have never personally had my vehicle stolen, but I have had some one try. It was the first night we parked behind our building. We thought it would be fine. We lived upstairs, and it was a parking lot. Lots of people had parked there before. We were wrong.

We were fortunate that they couldn't get the door open. We were left with a giant hole where they had taken a screw driver to the lock. After that, we couldn't unlock the door with our key though. Sometimes we can take it for granted that our vehicles are vulnerable. It's easy to make common mistakes like not looking a door when your hands are full of groceries, or it's cold, and we are rushing to get the kids inside.

Just because we think we know better doesn't mean we actually do it. Admit it, you have forgotten to roll up your windows before. Or left the car parked out in the open because you were too tired to move it for the night (guilty!) How about parking a little further away at night to save money rather than paying at a paid lot.... We have all fallen short a time or two.

Visit Insurance Hunter for lots of tips and information, on more than just protecting your investment. The safety tips are a great refresher too. Living in Winnipeg, I appreciated the blog post on getting your car back on the road. I think all winter drivers should give that a read!

You can never be too careful.
